Insipiring Leadership
Musical Director
John’s musical guidance is rooted in a view of achieving excellence and not perfection.
Using the rehearsal space as a safe place to experiment, he encourages each performer to explore and build confidence.
His experience started when he started to learn the violin when he was 4 years old, developing when singing as a soloist in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at The Royal Opera House, London, diversifying as keyboardist and singer in a progressive rock band, and broadening further through many musicals and concert performances.
Performers also enjoy working with him as a live sound and recording engineer as he bridges the artistic and technical disciplines, ensuring the best performance possible is achieved.
As the Resident Musical Director for The Brentwood Theatre for 8 years, he created new compositions and arrangements for the theatre’s professional company performances.
He currently leads two choirs, men2sing and New City Voices, guiding all aspects of their repertoire and performance. Guiding them to use strong technique and proven performance skills, ensuring their membership can combine experienced to first time performers.
